Micheal Schoener, age 49, entered state prison on Thursday, May 4 for the kidnapping and murder of 37-year-old James Robertson, the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office reports.
Robertson was taken from his family home on New Year's Day 2014 and was found murdered in the woods of Upton about two years later, the DA's Office reports.
Robertson was last seen by his family getting into a car with two men posing as constables who claimed Roberston had to come with them for a drug test as part of his probation.
Those men were later identified as 48-year-old James Feeney of Dedham and 51-year-old Scott Morrison of Norfolk, the DA's Office reports. The duo was found guilty of Robertson's murder in October 2018. Schoener was eventually convicted of being accessory before kidnapping.
“Schoener’s conviction for accessory before the fact was in April of 2019, but his sentence was stayed – over the Commonwealth’s objection – while his appeals were pending,” District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey said. “The appeals process was essentially exhausted when the Supreme Judicial Court upheld the conviction April 18, 2023.”
Schoener was sentenced to 6-9 years in state prison, the DA's Office reports.
